BIS Certification Consultants: Types of BIS Certification Schemes
BIS Certification is a means for providing 3rd party guarantee
of quality, reliability, and safety of customer products. It is voluntary, but
the Indian Government has made BIS certification mandatory for listed products considering
the public health factor. BIS Certification is provided by the National
Standards Body and Bureau of Indian Standards for promoting and nurturing
standards movement. BIS Act came into existence in 1987 and is mainly involved
in various activities like certification of products, standards formulation,
hallmarking, testing and calibration scheme, etc. BIS Certification Consultants
help the businesses to produce the BIS certificate at the minimum possible time
satisfying all aspects of the BIS Certification procedure.
Types of BIS Certification Schemes
BIS Certification is issued in India for goods under different
types of schemes such as:
- Normal
Procedure: Domestic
Manufacturers require to submit the application for BIS Certification with
requisite fee and required documents. It also involves various other
procedures like evaluation, sample testing, etc. In this method, BIS
Certification is estimated to be granted within the first 4 months of
application submission.
- Simplified
Procedure: In
the simplified procedure, the applicant submits a test report of the
sample from a BIS sanctioned lab along with the BIS Certification
application. Once the test report is approved, verification of the factory
premises is initiated by a BIS Officer. Under this procedure, the license
is expected to be granted within 30 days of application submission with
the required test report and documents.
- Tatkal
Scheme: In
this process, if you need the BIS standard mark urgently and mandatorily
as per Government notification BIS license can be acquired under the
tatkal scheme.
- ECO
Mark Scheme: BIS
License for eco-friendly goods are approved in a scheme dispersed from the
normal BIS Certification process. Eco-friendly products should conform to
additional requirements specified in the Indian Standards to qualify for
the ECO mark. The procedure for the grant of license is however similar to
that of the Domestic Manufacturers scheme.
Products that need Mandatory BIS Certificate or BIS License
Certain products are mandatory to have BIS Certification or
License or considering the public health sector. Without BIS Certification,
these goods cannot be sold or manufactured. The Basic Testing documents
required are Business License of the manufacturer, PCB Layout, Marking Plate,
Transformer datasheet, Circuit Diagram, Block Diagram, User Manual, Trademark,
CDF (Construction data form) with complete CCL (critical component list), etc.
